August was the perfect time of year for Mo and Jason’s Heritage Hill Brewhouse wedding. The love and excitement the couple had for each other, and that their friends had for them, was unmatched. It may have been a small wedding but it was filled with enormous amounts of joy.
Mo and Jason chose Heritage Hill Brewhouse in Pompey for their wedding. This combination farm, event space, and brewery is a newer venue to the wedding scene in upstate NY.I was so excited to have the opportunity to capture Mo and Jason’s wedding there – I just love a fresh and unique venue!
The rolling hills, trees, and open grass fields made for a vibrant backdrop for their first look. The venue had a wooden pergola the couple decorated with leaves, white trailing flowers, and some hanging potted plants. The purple color scheme that the couple incorporated throughout the day was on display during the ceremony with beautiful wildflowers lining the isle, sweetly displayed in bags, and Jason wore a purple vest and tie as well as a purple shirt to complement the theme. The guests even got in on the color scheme by wearing purples and pinks which made for great photos!
Jason and Mo had their reception in the barn on the Heritage Hill Brewhouse property. The natural light streaming in through the wide open barn doors made for great lighting for the first dance. My heart melted watching Jason and Mo, forehead to forehead, swaying together in their first dance as husband and wife.
I love that Mo and Jason decided to do exactly what they wanted for their wedding. Though they kept it small, it had big, big heart. My own heart was full watching their family and friends support them with cheers and love throughout the day. The speeches their family gave were incredible. What I loved even more was that this couple, Mo especially, really loves photos which made my job so much easier! First, they did a first look and took a ton of photos prior to the ceremony. Because it was such a small wedding, they were able to easily get photos with all of their guests as well! Mo even asked me to take photos of all of her guests without her and Jason so that they could have something special after the day was over.
Even though Mo loves photos, I think part of why it was so easy for me to photography their wedding was because that I had the opportunity to capture their engagement session. Mo and Jason’s engagement session at Beaver Lake Nature Center was where we really clicked. Mo and Jason were nervous about getting photos taken at first but quickly realized it wasn’t scary. Instead, found it to be a lot of fun! I like to recommend an engagement session for every wedding. Engagement sessions allow me to get to know the couple but also it gives the couple an opportunity to “practice” being in front of a camera.
Mo and Jason, it was such a pleasure being your wedding photographer. Congratulations and cheers! If you’re looking for a brewhouse wedding venue in Upstate NY, check out the Heritage Hill Brewhouse.
