Krista and Dan chose to have their maternity session surrounded by the beauty of nature. There’s something so special about the connection between nature and a mother carrying a baby in her tummy. While it’s always cozy and comfortable to have a photo shoot at home, there’s just something about being out in the open that makes the images come out ten times more beautiful. The fresh air, the soft sunlight, the lush greenery—it all comes together to create a backdrop that’s as breathtaking as the moment itself.
I loved seeing Krista and Dan again to capture these maternity photos. I also captured their wedding, so seeing their family grow meant a lot to me. Krista and Dan have been together since they were teens, and their wedding was a long time coming, according to friends and family. They got married, and their new baby joined their family right before their one-year wedding anniversary.
For the maternity session, Krista envisioned a golden hour field with a beautiful pearl-covered dress, and the result was absolutely stunning. Krista had picked out two outfits for the maternity session, and they couldn’t have been more perfect. The first outfit was a blue beaded mesh dress that flowed flawlessly over her baby bump. The pastel colors of the dress complemented the green hues of the open field and the sky, creating a picture-perfect scene. As Krista held her baby bump and smiled softly, she radiated that unmistakable maternal glow that every expectant mother has.
Throughout the session, Krista and Dan were a dream to work with. They were so natural and comfortable in front of the camera, and their love for each other was evident in every shot. As they held each other close and shared sweet kisses, it was clear that they were head-over-heels in love and beyond excited for the arrival of their little bundle of joy.
After capturing some beautiful moments in Krista’s first outfit, it was time for a quick outfit change. I loved that she had a second, more casual outfit. Krista returned wearing a pretty dark blue brassiere paired with jeans, and she looked like an absolute goddess! The outfit was simple yet stunning, and it perfectly showcased her pregnancy glow. Dan, on the other hand, opted for a smart, casual look with a polo t-shirt and brown pants, looking every bit the proud dad-to-be.
We took some time to capture solo portraits of Krista, and these turned out to be some of my favorite shots from the session. As she sat on the fresh green grass, cradling her baby bump, the light was just right, casting a soft, golden glow over her. The contrast between the grass and her outfit made for some truly lovely shots.
As we walked around the open fields, I captured some stunning candid portraits of Krista and Dan holding hands, chatting, and looking at each other with nothing but love in their eyes. It was clear that they share a deep connection and a love that’s only growing stronger as they prepare to welcome their little one into the world. One of my favorite moments from the session was when they shared a sweet forehead-to-forehead moment—it was so intimate and tender, and I could feel the love and joy radiating from them. They’re going to be the best parents, and I’m so excited for them!
Krista and Dan, thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your beautiful maternity session. It’s been an amazing journey capturing your love story, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of these special moments. I can’t wait to meet your little one and see your family continue to grow!
