If you could say “I do” twice with the same person, would you? Aimee and Stephen did! They said YES again and celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary with their vow renewal in front of family and friends in early September at the Tailwater Lodge in Altmar, NY. Aimee and Stephen eloped privately in Colorado on September 8, 2023, but they knew then that they still wanted to share their love and commitment with friends and family, so on their one-year wedding anniversary they did just that and I was there for it!
Aimee and Stephen’s Tailwater Lodge Vow Renewal
Though Aimee and Stephen were already married, they shared that they felt more excited and nervous about their vow renewal than they were on their wedding day! There’s something special about committing, and recommitting, in front of loved ones for sure – it can make the vows and declarations more real in a way when they are witnessed by family and friends. And you can see by the pure ear-to-ear smiles on both Aimee and Stephen’s faces in the photos of her walking down the aisle towards him that their hearts were full of love for each other even one year later.
Aimee’s dress was simple and stunning, with a gorgeous drape of fabric falling off her shoulders and scooping low on her back. Her bouquet was a collection of pine cones and classic white flowers. Stephen wore a blue suit and a pine cone boutonniere and really could not stop smiling! His grin was contagious!
I took the romantic couple’s photos of Aimee and Stephen outside near the entrance to the Tailwater Lodge and incorporated the rustic barn-like elements of the portcullis. Stephen expertly dipped Aimee in what ended up being one of my favorite photos from the day!
No detail too small
The reception was held inside and the wood and forest vibes were perfect for their vow renewal. The array of cupcakes and desserts looked like something from a bakery storefront when set against the twinkle lights adorning the wall of white tree trunks. Books were definitely a theme throughout the reception and even their welcome sign let guests know “We couldn’t write our story without your chapter” – such a beautiful sentiment!
Speaking of books, Aimee and Stephen even incorporated them into their seating chart and used books with guest’s names on them to let people know where to sit. I truly loved all of their decor. And while I wasn’t there for it, I know they had someone come during the reception and play saxophone – a special and unique touch!
