Caitlyn and Ricky are truly a “meant-to-be” kind of couple. I had the privilege of capturing both their engagement session and their wedding at The Cannery in Vernon NY. The way they interact is so genuine – fun and goofy and with so much love and laughter. It was a joy to watch their love come to life in front of me.
Caitlyn and Ricky said “I do” at The Cannery, an all-inclusive wedding venue in Vernon NY. It was an absolutely beautiful location for a wedding in Central New York.
Caitlyn got ready with her girls in The Cannery bridal suite. There was so much positive energy in that room full of women! The girls wore green robes for a group photo before getting into their green bridesmaid dresses. Caitlyn wore a stunning off-the-shoulder gown that showed off her gorgeous neckline.
I was able to have a few moments with the bride by the window for some photos of her alone as well as with some of her family as they helped her put the final touches together. When Caitlyn and her dad did a first look, you could see the pride and love in his eyes. When he saw her for the first time in her wedding dress there were so many happy tears!
The outdoor ceremony was set against a white rustic wall and the couple incorporated a circular “arch” adorned with flowers as their backdrop. Caitlyn and Ricky could not stop smiling at each other. After the ceremony, we had a great golden hour, perfect for romantic photos of the couple. We used the main building as the setting for some of the photos, but then when the sun started really lighting up the treeline, I was able to move the couple to some brown rustic gates that flanked the entrance to The Cannery and show off that early fall color as it glowed in the setting sun on the trees behind them. I love how much fun Caitlyn and Ricky had together during this part of the day and they continued to be their authentically goofy and fun-loving selves.
The reception kicked off with an energetic entrance into the space by the couple – cheering and celebrating with hands held high. There were very meaningful and entertaining speeches from friends and family but everyone really loved when Caitlyn and her dad started their father-daughter dance by playing catch with each other. Caitlyn is passionate about softball and Ricky loves baseball, so it was perfect to incorporate this into their reception. The party continued into the night with an active dance floor filled with tons of fun enhanced by light-up glasses and other props. Everyone was there to party and celebrate Caitlyn and Ricky’s love.
At the end of the night, Caitlyn and Ricky changed into comfy clothes and fed each other pizza while Caitlyn sat on the bar! Caitlyn wore a white tee shirt that said “Mrs.” and Ricky wore a black tee shirt that said “Mr.” – such a great special detail to build into the end of the night!
Caitlyn and Ricky, it was such a pleasure being your wedding photographer. Congratulations and cheers! Check out the Cannery if you’re looking for an all-inclusive wedding venue in Central NY.
