Arrowhead Lodge Wedding

You just can’t beat an October wedding in Upstate New York. Fall comes out in all its glory. This wedding at Arrowhead Lodge was the perfect place to capture the blazing color of the trees. It was made even better with a photogenic and sweet couple like Melissa and Chris!

Chris and Melissa’s Wedding at Arrowhead Lodge

Melissa and Chris made this wedding truly unique and special. They had a very small wedding party – only two attendants for each of them – and they built their son Wes into the ceremony and day as well. But what made it extra special was that Melissa wore a fabulous and fitted black dress with a train and carried a bouquet of red flowers as a pop of color to match the fall vibes all around. I really loved that Melissa wore a black dress because I changed into a black dress for my reception. A black dress bride has a special place in my heart!

Their ceremony was held out in nature with a very cool upside-down V-shaped “arch” decorated with fall flowers as their backdrop. The wedding party photos were taken under this huge tree that has yellow and green leaves that perfectly complemented the bridesmaid’s dresses and bouquets. Chris and Melissa’s first dance was really special – the way Melissa looked at Chris really showed her love for him. And bonus – the reception featured a donut wall for desserts (so much yum!) and super fun dance music!

All the Moments

There were so many amazing moments from the wedding day, but you can see by the photos that some of my favorites were the ones I got to spend with Melissa, Chris, and Wes in nature, as the sun set, with the trees showing off all the fall color in the background. The golden hour for this wedding was truly golden!

I adore smaller weddings because I get to spend extra time loving on the couple and sharing in some of the more special and customized moments, like when Melissa and Chris did their first look. They have been together for a long time as a couple and to see their love for each other and the huge smiles on their faces during the first look, and throughout the day, brought me so much joy.

Part of the Story

It always makes me happy to be at a wedding, capturing the big day, and also see couples I’ve previously worked with there! There were two other couples attending Chris and Melissa’s wedding whose weddings I had also photographed. It is special to be constantly invited back into people’s lives and to be referred!

I also love that I was able to capture Chris and Melissa’s Engagement and Family photos with Wes. It was the perfect opportunity to get to know them as a family and as a couple before the big day!
